A non-fungible token (NFT) linked to the world’s first SMS message, which was sent on 3 December, 1992, was sold at the Aguttes auction in France. The transaction amount was 132.6 thousand euros.

The first ever SMS message was sent 29 years ago by programmer Neil Papworth to his colleague Richard Jarvis.
The text of the message was two words: “Merry Christmas”.

Mobile operator Vodafone has announced that it will donate the proceeds of the sale to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Do you remember your first sent message? Who was it addressed to?
